Our Story
Welcome to The Old Map Store by OldCityPrints®, a specialty print shop with a focus on making fine print reproductions of antique maps, printed on 100% cotton acid-free fine art papers with archival pigment inks. We’re dedicated to the art of printmaking and every item we print is made only of the highest quality materials.
This shop is a happy combination of three of our passions: maps, history, and prints on paper. We love old maps because they are truly windows onto history, showing paths of exploration, scientific discovery, developing and changing societies, and more. They also connect us to the places that are most important to us: our towns, our ancestry, and our common heritage. Plus, many of them are beautiful works of art in their own right.
We started the business in 1979 as a way to explore history through antique maps, and with a desire to perfect the art of fine prints on paper. Over the years we’ve had the privilege to make prints for numerous museums, universities, and television and movie productions.
We are 100% committed to delighting our customers every step of the way. We start by providing the best quality products, then we continue by providing a simple, easy & free returns & exchanges process. At every step along the way you can be assured that our team will be in close contact with you to ensure you are 100% satisfied with your purchase.
Top Quality Products
All of our products are carefully hand crafted in Portugal by expert printers & assemblers.
All of the images we print have been lovingly restored to their original shine, and we make all of the prints on a large-format digital fine art printer using archival pigment inks and 100% cotton matte fine art papers. We’re always on the lookout for beautiful and interesting old maps, and we regularly add new items to the collection. also happy to customize any of the prints in any way, just drop us a line to describe what you’d like.
If anything you purchase from us gets damaged during shipment, simply take a photo and let us know. We will replace your item free of charge and we will even let you keep the damaged one.
